1. I’m sold. <상대의 말, 제안을 마음에 들어 하며 받아들일 때> 그렇게 하자.
2. strike as: ~란 인상을 주다.
3. problematic: 문제가 있는/ 해결하기 어려운


1. I’m sold. 그렇게 하자. (그렇게 하기로 설득당한 거)
sell (아이디어, 서비스, 계획 등을) 받아들이도록 납득시키다.

I’m sold. 그렇게 하자. (그렇게 하기로 설득당한 거)

Well, I'm sold. Let's cut the check.

- A: So, what do you say to an upgrade? 업그레이드하는 게 어때?
- B: Okay, I’m sold. 좋아. 그렇게 하자.

- I’m gonna sell you on New York. 
(뉴욕이란 도시 자체가 매력적이니) 뉴욕으로 설득할 거야/꼬실 거야.
 <결국 뉴욕에 마음이 빼앗겨 설득당함.>

         나가서 화를 좀 식히는 게 어때?

     *What do you say~: ~하는 것에 대해 어떻게 생각해?

           아니 이게 전반적으로 좋은 아이디어인 게 납득이 안 가.

- A: We’re giving away a free laptop, no strings attached. 
           공짜로 노트북을 드립니다. 아무 조건 없이.
- B: I don’t buy it. 안 믿어./ I wasn’t born yesterday. 나도 알 건 다 알아.
*I wasn’t born yesterday. 그런 거에 속을 만큼 내가 바보는 아냐/나도 알 건 다 알아.

<부모님을 변명으로 비번 신청을 하는 것 같을 때>
- Well, I have plans on Saturday, too. I'm having dinner with my parents.
- I don't buy it.

I don't buy it은 상대가 말이 사실이라고 믿기 어려울 때 (believe)
I'm not sold는 상대의 말/생각이 마음에 안 들거나 납득이 안 갈 때 
(persuaded/convinced)


2. strike as ~란 인상을 주다.
*Longman: to seem to have a particular quality or feature

- He strikes me as a really charming guy. 
   그는 정말 매력적인 사람이란 인상을 주는 것 같아.

handsome, pretty, beautiful, hot 등과 같은 단어는 외적인 모습에 관한 표현
charming은 외적인 것뿐만 아니라 내적인 것을 포함. 특히 호감이 가는, 매력적인 성격이란 걸 강조할 때 사용

charming 매력적인, 호감이 가는, 멋진

- You strike me as a hard worker.
   너 보면 정말 열심히 일하는 사람이란 인상을 주는 것 같아.

- You've always stuck me as a very pragmatic man.
*pragmatic: 실리적인, 실용주의의

- You’ve never struck me as a homebody.
   난 네가 ‘집돌이/집순이’라는 인상을 못 받았는데.

<향수에 잠기는 타입인 줄은 몰랐어요.>
You never struck me as nostalgic, Doug.

homebody 집에 있기를 좋아하는 사람(집돌이, 집순이)

-I'm really a homebody.

<이해가 좀 안 되는, 이상한/특이한 상황일 때>

*lay out: (계획ㆍ주장 등을 잘 정리하여) 제시하다, 펼치다.
